Failure as a Learning Mode according to The New Media Consortium
Learning is all about risk, but learning institutions are anything but risk tolerant. There are good reasons for that, except when it comes to learning,” (Communiqué Page 2 © The New Media Consortium, 2013). Our role in addressing this wicked problem is to figure out a solution for “instill[ing] in students the drive to learn, and to help them see the vital role of failure in discovery,” (Communiqué Page 2 © The New Media Consortium, 2013). Through our research we uncovered not only do students instinctively avoid failure or making mistakes, but so do teachers and adults in general.
